What we know about you.

Written in plain English because legalese is a smokescreen. This is the actual arrangement.

TL;DR We don't sell your data. We don't have accounts to hack. Booking through our Stay22 map links shares your booking info with Stay22 and the hotel platform you choose — the same as going to them directly.

Who runs this site.

Real Medellín is part of the independent Real[City] network. One operator, no corporate parent. Contact: contact form or desk@realmedellin.com.

What we collect directly.

Almost nothing. We don't require accounts, we don't run a newsletter (yet), we don't use third-party tracking pixels for advertising.

  • Contact form submissions. Your name, email, subject and message. Used only to reply. Stored on our server and/or email inbox. Not shared.
  • Server logs. Standard web server logs: IP address, user agent, timestamp, pages requested. Retained up to 90 days for security and debugging. Not correlated with contact form data.

What third parties collect.

A few services run on this site. Each has its own privacy policy and you should check those if you care about specifics.

  • Google Fonts. Serves the typography. Google receives your IP and browser info when fonts load. Google's policy.
  • Stay22. The stay-recommendation maps are embedded iframes from Stay22, which aggregates Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, and Hotels.com inventory. When you interact with the map or click through to book, Stay22 and the booking platform apply their own cookies and tracking. Stay22's policy.
  • Basic analytics. We may run a privacy-respecting analytics tool (Plausible, Fathom, or similar) that does not track individuals across sites. No Google Analytics.

Affiliate disclosure.

When you book a stay through one of our Stay22 maps or links, we may earn a small commission from the booking platform. It does not change the price you pay. It does not affect which neighborhoods are recommended — the editorial and the affiliate layers are independent.

Cookies.

We don't set first-party tracking cookies. Third parties listed above may set their own cookies when you interact with their embeds or click their links.

Your rights.

You can email us to request deletion of anything you've sent via the contact form. If you're in the EU or UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, and erasure — just ask.

Changes.

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, where material, say what changed in the Briefing.
